FORUM8 14th Annual Design Festival Nov 18th -20th – Open for Registration

23rd October 2020, Tokyo, Japan FORUM8 the specialist developer of photo-realistic 3D virtual reality software has announced details of its 2020 Annual Design Festival which will be taking place over three days online and at the Shinagawa City Hall in Tokyo from 18th to 20th November. FORUM8’s Design Festival is a platform used to announce product advancements as well as ongoing research and exciting applications of the company’s 3DVR software. This year’s event will focus on the DX, Digital Transformation, era and how these changes in workstyle are impacting businesses.

Also with the idea of Mobility as a Service, MAAS, in mind the festival will host the 5th Autonomous Driving Conference, which with the help of four industry experts who will provide a lecture series focused on how autonomous driving systems will be included in the simulations of the new digital city concepts and the impact of autonomous driving covering issues such as the road safety, infrastructure, transportation, and tourism.

FORUM8’s VR Design Studio (aka UC-win/Road) 3DVR simulation software is widely used by the world’s leading vehicle manufacturers, universities and urban planners working on the next generation of driverless vehicles, ADAS systems and advanced driver training programmes. Delegates to the Design Festival will have an opportunity to see a demonstration of the FORUM8 Safe Driving Simulator which uses dynamic 3DVR simulations of the full range of real-world traffic and environmental conditions in a controlled classroom setting.

In addition, the festival will also feature a range of specialist design awards including the 19th 3DVR Simulation Contest showcasing the many possible uses of VR Design Studio (aka UC-win/Road) in different industries and fields. Day two will include the announcement of the winners of the  8th Student Cloud Programming World Cup, and the 10th Student BIM & VR Design Contest on Cloud, that have attracted a high level of entries from across the globe  There will also be the 4th Hagura Award announcement as well as the 13th International VR Symposium of the Association for Promotion of Advanced Expression Technology.

On the final day, experts from the Japanese Cabinet Secretariat of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism will give a lecture series on regional revitalization, national resilience, and i-construction followed by the 7th National Resilience Design Award Ceremony, which will showcase various works that contribute to disaster prevention and national resilience. Throughout the event three new books will be launched including FORUM8’s “City and Architecture Blog Overview” and “Structural Analysis by Numerical Simulation, augmented and revised Edition”. There will also be an exhibition area where delegates will be able to experience the latest software updates including Ver.21 of Shade3D modelling, animation and rendering software.
