Driver Training
VR-Design Studio (aka UC-win/Road), the award winning real-time Interactive Three Dimensional (3D) Virtual Reality (VR) driving simulation & modelling software, is the ideal technology to be used in a wide range of Driver Training applications. Whether training professional drivers such as police or first responders, or members of the general public, VR-Design Studio contains all the functionality required of a modern training platform.
In addition to being able to power a range of different drive simulators, VR-Design Studio also has the capability to operate in a multi-user mode and hence enable multiple drivers to operate and interact with each other within the same 3D VR road network.
FORUM8’s VR-Design Studio software powers many different types of simulator hardware systems around the world, from simple desk-top systems, to multi-million-dollar research and development motion based hexapod systems. View more information of the FORUM8 range of drive simulator platforms.
The software’s highly photo-realistic 3D models provide a dynamic driving environment to help to train novice and experienced drivers in ways to mitigate the risks and avoid potential accidents when at the wheel of a vehicle, under a range of driving conditions and emergency scenarios.
VR-Design Studio enables driver training organisations to teach safe and eco driving techniques in the safety of the classroom by:
- Highlighting awareness of lapses of attention caused by distractions whilst driving
• Training drivers in special driving procedures
• Examining the behaviour and specific attention issues of individual drivers
• Preparing drivers to face and anticipate any driving situation such as climatic changes, emergency situations and road surface conditions
Instructors can monitor the driver(s) performance and dynamically control the driving conditions at any time via the Control Desk or portable tablet. In addition, he or she can activate pre-built scenarios, or alter the driving conditions and vehicle dynamics remotely from the desk. Distractions can be built into the drive or generated dynamically either on-screen or via verbal communications over a headset
The road network can be changed to mimic the real-world driving environment and simulate all types of driving conditions including, environmental changes, time of day / night, traffic volumes, pedestrian behaviours, cyclists, different junction layouts, traffic lights, hills, potholes, rail crossings, ITS road signs, tunnels, bridges and roundabouts.
